Behind the lyrics:
Satellite – Learning to dance is rather intimidating, especially when there are other people looking on. Satellite is about being nervous to dance but still feeling the pull of that desire to let go of fear and take hold of a new personality, a new side of you that loves and delights in other people rather than being self centered and fearful.
Creation – In the beginning God Created the heavens and the earth. The story of creation has always fascinated me and the forces of nature that God installed to govern over what he has made are intriguing. Gravity, for example, did not always exist, yet it was created just as we were for the Glory of God! This is a praise song to The Creator for His mighty works, constant love and generous gifts!
Cumula – Looking up at the clouds has always made me feel small, right before it makes me want to fly up close and experience them from their own point of view. Cumula is about clouds and being stuck on the ground, unable to reach the skies from all the things weighing me down like pride and self interest. The hope of this song is to break free and be like the clouds, without fear and selfish ambition.
Gravity – Some people are magnetic, they pull in everyone around them like moths to a flame. The Gravity project is about people like this, people who bring others together instead of drifting them away.
Moonrise – The moon pulls the oceans and tides, it affects the moods of us mortals and is the marker for the seasons. This song is about the allegory between people and the moon.
Homeward – A letter to the ones you love, a letter home. This song is inspired by the astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) as they are the people furthest from their homes, however, these lyrics ring true to anyone who has loved ones in a distant place.
Too Cold – One of my friends was caught in an avalanche, this song is for her. She lived through the experience but the fallout was…cold. I wrote this song on a day off of work, it was simply too cold outside to go out.
Love & Gravity – I once thought it would be a good idea to pick up some new character traits…righteous indignation was one of them, I thought it would give me more personality and it did. By the time I realized what I had become there was some serious repair that needed to happen. I had lost a lot of empathy and could only regain it through conscious effort and intentional optimism, by choosing love rather than coldness.
Change Me – what does it take to change? To become better than you were, to encourage the good and get rid of the bad. That is the question behind this song.
